The Institute for Sustainability and the Better Buildings Partnership (BBP) have launched a competition to identify new solutions to help improve the environmental performance of commercial building envelopes.

The closing date for entries is 15 March 2013 so there is still time to enter for the chance to pitch your innovation to the UK’s leading commercial property owners and investors for the opportunity to demonstrate your solutions in situ.

The challenge criteria have been shaped by a BBP working group of representatives from Hammerson, Land Securities and Legal and General Investment Management.

The competition is intended to stimulate as many low disruption and replicable solutions as possible rather than a single, large or complex demonstrator.  It should attract a broad range of solutions which will address a range of issues including, but not limited to: energy efficiency, solar gain, solar shading, renewable energy and water attenuation.   Both climate change mitigation and adaptation solutions are encouraged.

Full details are available by clicking here

The competition is part of the Institute’s Sustainable Innovations Forums set up to support property owners, investors and managers in the following areas: retail, commercial/municipal and residential.

The Sustainable Innovation Forums are funded by the Climate-KIC through its pan European Climate Market Accelerator (CMA) programme, which aims to speed up the time it takes for climate change adaptation and mitigation innovations to reach the market.
